Seed Money Research Grants Policy

(For Internal Faculty Members Only)

Applications are invited from eligible permanent faculty members of St. Xavier’s College, Simdega, for Seed Money Research Grants to foster research initiatives. These grants, awarded on the recommendation of the Research and Development Cell (R&D Cell), is intended to support original research projects by providing permanent faculty members with the essential resources to initiate their scholarly and intellectual quests.

Application Objectives

This Seed Money Research Grant aims to:

  1. To encourage scholars to begin their research publications.
  2. To support the projects that contribute to the advancement of knowledge in their respective fields.
  3. To foster interdisciplinary and innovative research initiatives.

Grant Details

Grant Amount: 25,000/- (Twenty Five thousands only)

Tenure: 12 months from the date of sanction of the project.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Only regular (permanent) faculty members of the college are eligible to apply
  • Maximum Age Limit: 64 Years.

Financial Assistant

  • The Seed Money Research Grants would not support engaging research fellows.
  • A maximum of 30% of the grant may be used for travel assistance, including the TA incurred to attend any national/international seminar/conference/symposium/workshop related to the project work.
  • Up to 70% may be used for academic assistant.

Selection Process

  • An evaluation committee comprising of senior faculty members of St. Xavier’s College, Simdega, would review the Seed Money Grants proposals. The proposal may be sent to at least two external subject experts for evaluation.

Project Outcome and Obligation

  • Publications: Minimum of one research paper in an SCI/Scopus/Peer-Reviewed journal and one in the SXCS e-ISSN journal.
  • Presentations: Minimum of one research paper presentation at a National/International seminar/conference/symposium and one presentation within SXCS.
  • Final Report Submission: Must be submitted (both hard and soft copies) to the Principal’s Office through the R&D Cell within one month of completion of the project.

The Final Report must include:

  1. Project Report: Cover page (Title, Investigators, Duration), Research Synopsis, Limitations/Challenges, and Main Findings.
  2. Financials: Details of fund utilization, including expenditure heads and supporting bills/vouchers.
  3. Evidence: Copies of all published papers and presentation certificates as specified above. Minimum Research Requirements:
  • Published Research Paper-1-General
  • Published Research paper-2-eISSN-SXCS
  • Plageria Tested Repor-1 & 2
  • Research Presentation-1-General
  • Research Presentation -2-SXCS

Research Project completion/ Mid-term/ Progress Report will be evaluated by expert panel (consisting of internal and external panel).

Utilization of Seed Money

  • Fund must be utilised only under the approved expenditure heads and within the stipulated time period mentioned in the sanctioned letter. The expenditures are to be supported with valid bills and vouchers.
  • Any unspent amount must be returned to the college account within the same financial year.
  • All the equipment, books purchased out of the seed money, will be assets of the department/ college.
  • Project is non transferable in any case.
  • If the principal investigator fails to complete the project, he/she has to refund the entire amount released.
  • No extension in the tenure is permissible in any circumstances.
  • The decisions of the R&D Cell screening committee shall be final.

Compliance and Ethics

  • Faculty must conduct their projects in compliance with ethical guidelines, research integrity, and relevant regulations.
  • Projects involving human subjects or animals must receive appropriate ethical approvals before commencing.

Research Proposal

Applicants should apply in the prescribed format indicating the aims and objectives, uniqueness of the project, societal relevance, innovative research, expected outcome and duration.

  2. Required Documents: A detail biodata of the applicant.
  3. Submission Mode: Proposal must be submitted to R&D Cell, SXCS in hand or via email to rdcsxcs@gmail.com
